Crowthorne Carnival 1st July 2006

Procession

Wellington Business Park – Morgan Recreation Ground 12pm

Our Carnival swings into action with the spectacular procession of colourful floats prepared by many local organizations, who will be giving us their slant on the Carnival theme of “Heroes & Villains”.
After the judges have selected the best in each of four categories, the parade will leave Wellington Business Park at 12 noon, led by Reading Scottish Pipe Band, proceeding down Dukes Ride and the High Street to the Morgan Recreation Ground.
As the procession approaches the Morgan Recreation Ground, they will pass PG Stompers Jazz Band entertaining us from in front of the new Crowthorne Library.
The procession will include floats from local schools and organizations as well as the Carnival Princess and her attendants, with comedy being provided by Big Betty, the mad taxi clown car.
Entry to the procession is free. Contact a member of the committee if you have not received a form.

Fete

Morgan Recreation Ground 1pm

The Morgan Recreation Ground will be the centre of the afternoon's
entertainment. There will be a variety of stalls and sideshows for all the family. Local charities will be present trying to raise much needed funds together with a variety of traders.
This year's show will be opened by the Mayor of Bracknell Forest
Borough Council, Cllr Clifton Thompson at 1.15pm.
New for this year is a fully equipped mobile stage for acts performing during the afternoon. The list of running times are listed on this page. As always, the fairground and the Pinewood Miniature Railway will be on the field, as well as stalls from societies, charities and traders.
If that is not enough, a selection of clowns will be providing entertainment right across the field.
On the main stage, the first act will be singing duo Big River who will perform popular songs from the 50’s to the modern day. The dance group Classy Movers will take to the stage with some of their routines. Crowthorne Musical Players will perform some of their recent show songs and music will be provided by Edgbarrow Swing Band. The afternoon finishes with comedy juggling with Slap and Tickle.

Boys’ Voices

Crowthorne Parish Hall 4.30pm

To contribute to the opening day of the Carnival, “Boys’ Voices” is presenting a children’s concert. It is for children, by children and will include songs, a flute band called “Flute Salad” and a cowboy musical play entitled “The Lemonade Kid”. If children come dressed in cowboy/girl costumes they will be given free drinks.
The tickets at £1 each – which are on sale at “This ‘n’ That” in the High Street – are limited in number. The entertainment will last for a little over an hour. So, tie the pony to the hitch rail and come on in!
