Robbery in Sandhurst

Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery at The Meadows shopping centre in Sandhurst on 31/1.

Just before 4pm, a Securicor guard was walking towards his van outside Tesco, Sandhurst when he was approached by a man who demanded money.

The offender, believed to be in possession of a firearm, made off with a large sum of cash.

He left the scene in a white Vauxhall Astra, driven by another man. The car was later found abandoned outside a parade of shops on Yorktown Road.

Both men are white, however further descriptions are not available at this time.

Det Sgt Neil Evans, investigating, said: “The robbery occurred during a busy time of the day, so it is possible that members of the public witnessed it or saw someone acting suspiciously. We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw a car matching this description prior to or after the robbery.”

DS Evans can be contacted via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to police or leave your name, call the Crimestoppers Charity on 0800 555 111.
