College Town Sandhurst Infant and Nursery is a good school
College Town Sandhurst Infant and Nursery School is a good school with many outstanding features according to inspectors from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted).
Ofsted inspectors visited the Bracknell Forest Council-run Sandhurst school in January and has rated it as a grade two, good school rating.
Ofsted inspector Jonathan Palk said in a letter to the school's pupils: “We really enjoyed our day and were impressed by your friendliness and good manners.
"Most of you are achieving well. You are all making rapid progress in your reading and you can all help by working even harder with your writing."
The Sandhurst report noted that:
* parents value the staff's 'commitment to all children';
* the school is well led and managed;
* strong relationships have been forged with the Nepalese community;
* standards in reading, writing and mathematics are satisfactory and are improving rapidly through good use of assessment information;
* staff have a good understanding of the emotional and academic needs of the pupil; and
* the school's capacity to further improve is good.
In common with all Ofsted reports the inspectors identified areas which the school needs to improve. This includes focusing on improving the effectiveness of the early years foundation stage.
Headteacher Trudi Sammons said: “I am delighted Ofsted have recognised what a good school College Town Infant and Nursery is.
“Currently we are making improvements to our early years foundation stage and I would like to thank my staff on their tireless dedication in ensuring ours is a good school for all pupils.”
Cllr Alan Kendall, Executive Member for Sandhurst Education, said: “I am pleased to see College Town Infant and Nursery School get a grade two, good school rating.
“This Ofsted report shows there is dedicated, quality teaching in the school and I congratulate the headteacher and her team on this achievement.”
