Here is the March neighbourhood update for Owlsmoor and College Town from PCSO Alastair Willcocks.
Special Constables who work out of Crowthorne police station took to the streets on 6 and 7 February, as part of a national drive to highlight the vital role they perform and the contribution they make to policing.
Some speeding motorists in Owlsmoor received a personal visit from the the Special Constables, after trained volunteers collated information on motorists who had broken the speed limit on local roads, namely College Road, Branksome Hill Road and Yeovil Road. The volunteers used a piece of equipment called a Speed Indicator Device (SID) where the speed of a car is recorded and the driver’s details are put onto a database. Speeding has been identified as a neighbourhood priority by residents throughout Owlsmoor and College Town at Neighbourhood Action Groups and local forums.
Two drugs warrants were executed in Silver Hill, where an amount of drugs were found and seized.
There were several burglaries at Sandhurst Comprehensive School in January where a number of laptops were stolen. A male has been arrested in relation to this and enquiries are continuing.
Unfortunately, there has been a spate of criminal damage to cars in and around the Owlsmoor and Sandhurst areas in the early hours of Tuesday 9 February between 3.30am and 4.15 am. We are keen to trace those responsible and we would like to know if you were woken up by sounds of smashing glass and saw a vehicle driving erratically down your road. Perhaps you have CCTV that captured the vehicle? If you have any information about the incidents, please contact us using the contact details below.
There has been a recent increase in burglaries where burglars have managed to gain entry through the letterbox. The burglars know that UPVC doors can be opened from the inside if you just raise the handle. Please take extra time to double lock the front door with a key and then remove the key and place it out of sight.
We are holding a ‘Beat Surgery’ on 9 March from 11am to 12pm.These meetings are an ideal opportunity for residents to speak to their neighbourhood police officers and PCSOs about any local issues; no appointment is necessary. Further surgeries will be publicised locally and on the force website at www.thamesvalley.police.uk.
